Learning How to Talk with Others
Having been in the public eye for many years I can tell you, that in the early days of my career it was hard to talk in public. I started in radio, so I was able to hide behind a microphone, but that doesn’t change the fact that I was speaking to a large audience. When you focusing on your subject matter you can easily forget to engage the listeners. When you start to realize that how you interact with those focusing on you, you can quickly become a better presenter. Communication and presentation skills comes with a learning curve, in public and behind the headphones. A good way to engage the audience is to make verbal eye contact, and emphasize words that will draw them in. If it helps to relax while on a stage, try to imagine you are talking to your best friend, as if you were having a conversation. This will let the listeners know you are at ease.
In every action taken, there is always an explanation behind it. That is how we, humans, are programmed. We tend to do things not because we just want to do them, but we are driven by a circumstance that actually led us to doing things. Basically, this is what psychology touches on – human behavior and the way of thinking. Whatever scenario you could think of, there will always be a psychological explanation behind it.
Even if you belong to the best college in the state, it is no use if the college you belong to does not have the best program for the course you want.
