Knowing Colorpoint Himalayan Persian Cats

Another breed related to the long haired Persian Cats are the Himalayan Cats, with the variation of its blue eyes and point coloration. These differences were derived when the Persians were crossed with the Siamese. Similar to most Persian cats, Colorpoint Himalayan Persian Cats possess round bodies with short legs making it harder for them to jump as high like other cats. There are some though that has more of a Siamese like body and jump as high as seven feet.

There are two types of Colorpoint Himalayan Persian Cats, the Peke or Ultra face having more squashed faces and the Traditional Doll Face. These cats are very intelligent and sweet tempered making them a very good indoor companion. They are playful too. Playing fetch or a kitty toy will keep them entertained for hours. Being long haired cats, they should be brushed daily to keep their coats looking healthy. To lessen the oil on the cat’s fur and skin, bathing daily is recommended too.

Importance of Neat Paws

Neat paws are very important for animals. It serves as a way to protect their health and to keep them away from acquiring any harmful bacteria or parasites. Cats and dogs love to play with dirt, and any form of dirt can get into their system through they paws.

Help your pet steer clear itself from dangerous health hazards by keeping it paws well trimmed and neat. Regular trimming could be done at least thrice a week; depending on how fast the paw grows its nails. Proper nail trimmer needs proper equipments too. These equipments should include a nail file, nail polisher if necessary, and a functional and safe nail trimmer like pedipaws.

Pedipaws, unlike traditional paw clippers is safe and effective to use in animals. It promotes proper paw care by trimming only the excess nails without cutting through the skin of your beloved pet. Pedipaws avoids causing any bleeding and wounds from the nail cutting process.

We Got New Dog Beds for Our Dogs, and They Clearly Love Them!

We have to Poodles who are considered to be seniors in age. They have been a wonderful addition to the family over the years. I adopted both of them from a rescue many years ago. They have brought my husband and I, as well as our children a lot of happiness and laughter. We have always thought it important to take them on trips with us whenever possible. We are also very active with getting outdoors for walking and hiking, so we bring them along for the fun, too. Our Poodles have been slowing down over the past couple of years. Our veterinarian says they both have arthritis. We have been helping them out with a supplement and some medication, and that has made a difference. I wondered if there is anything else we can do, and our veterinarian said we should look into orthopedic dog beds for them. We purchased memory foam beds for them. The foam helps to support the areas where aching joints normally come into contact with the floor they lay on. The dogs love their beds! Every time we look for them they are lounging and happy in them!

Fell in Love

When my daughter asked me if we could get some Labradoodle puppies, I had to laugh. She has been after me for several years to get her a puppy, but we have never been able to get one before because we were renting from someone who refused to let us have any pets. When she was about eight years old, we ended up getting our own place and that is when she asked me the question. She knew I wanted one too, so she didn’t wait until even the first day was over before asking for one. I looked up Labradoodles on the Internet to see if there was even a breeder near us. There was one about 90 minutes away. We decided to go look at some of them to see if my daughter still liked them in person, which I already knew she would. We ended up placing an order for two of them because we all fell in love that day!

Pet-proofing or Childproofing Medical Alert Systems in Your Home

Typically with medical alert systems you can press either the help button that you wear or the emergency button on the speaker box in order to activate your medical alarm. While both start the process of contacting your monitoring center, most medical alert users only need to worry about pressing the button on their necklace or wristband. If your medical alert has activated when you didn’t think you had pressed that button, there are a couple things to consider. You may have pressed or bumped your button accidentally, or the emergency button on the speaker box may have been pressed. Sometimes seniors with cats may even experience false alarms from their cat walking on the medical alert.

Pets can be excellent companionship for seniors. Animals really can bring a smile to your face, and based on a number or medical studies pets can help you live healthier and longer as well. Whether it’s because of the simple act of taking care of your pet, or the unconditional love that they give, your happiness directly correlates with your health. Sometimes having animals in the house can lead to unexpected things though. When you have a medical alert, your cat could just as easily press that emergency button as you could if it is on a tabletop. Does your cat like to jump on the top of tables and explore? If I were a cat I’d probably do the same. It’s smart to put medical alarm systems somewhere that your pet can’t reach. You could potentially put the speaker box in a nook where the cat won’t be able to walk or you could even mount that machine on the wall.

Grandchildren sometimes present the same unique problem. They love to explore and touch things – and who can blame them. They’re learning all the time! Grandchildren are another great source of happiness for seniors. I’ve rarely ever talked to a grandparent who isn’t so proud of every little thing their grandkids do. If your grandchildren are over often you may consider placing your medical alert somewhere out of reach. That may be on a taller table or tucked away where they can’t touch it.

Since both pets and grandchildren don’t know any better, it’s up to you to childproof or pet-proof your medical alert system. Look around your house. Is there a centrally located spot that may work for this? Is there a spot on your desk that is covered so that your cat can’t walk there? Once you have your medical alert set up, go ahead and run a test just to make sure you plugged in everything correctly.

If a false alarm happens because of your pet, grandchild, or any other reason it really isn’t a big deal. The speaker box will activate making a number of noises. If you don’t hear those noises you will certainly hear the operator when they come over the speaker. They will ask you if you need help or if you are having an emergency. All you will need to do is tell them that it is a false alarm at that time. Most medical alert companies will even call you on the home telephone if they are not able to speak to you over the speaker box. False alarms are nothing to worry about, but if your medical alert activates when you didn’t press the button, you may think to ask “Whiskers” if he did it…

Pet Food Allergies and How You Can Help Prevent Them

There is a unique difference between commercial dog food allergies and also intolerance. If your dog is hypersensitive to foods they will have the same symptoms because inhalant allergies. Scratchy skin and some other epidermis problems result from food allergies. If your puppy is intolerant of a meals, the symptoms are similar to people who humans possess when they consume spicy food or meals that have been melted. Upset stomach, gas, looseness of the bowels and nausea can occur. Both these issues can be treated in much the same way. You have to remove the food which is causing the issue and replace it with hypoallergenic dog food.

Some of the most frequent food contaminants in the air are beef, chicken, lamb, bass, eggs, dairy, soy, hammer toe and grain. These are also the most common ingredients in commercial dog food. Some meats may cause a lot more reaction than these, but most are similar in allergy symptoms and are most likely associated with the amount your dog may possibly eat.

My Dogs Supplies

I have 2 dogs. One is a border collie mix and the other is an Australian shephard mix. We take really good care of our dogs from the food, to the regular baths, to the toys the dogs play with. We use supplements for the dogs as well. I like going to dog supply specialty stores to pick up supplies like the food, bath soaps, toys and supplements. My border collie, Shadow, is getting older now so it is even more important that we get the right kind of food to help him in his advanced age. He is starting to develop hip problems. So we need to get something to help his hip joints to keep him upright and walking great! I think he might have arthritis in his hips from going up and down stairs constantly everyday. So if you have a dog that you want to take care, go to a specialty store!

Things to Consider in Buying a Hidden Litter Box

One way to locate the best hidden litter box for your cat is to consider what your priorities are. What are your requirements, and how much are you willing to spend for your cat’s litter box? Are you willing to do research to figure out exactly what it is that is best for your cat? There are plenty of factors and questions that will need to be considered, when the issue is selecting the correct hidden litter box for our cat. Cats are different and while Aunt Mary’s cat might be quiet and lazy, your own cat could be hyper and just bigger in size, overall. Cats are one-of-a-kind and just like humans, have different “personalities” and needs. It is understood by most cat owners that cats are not easy to kept well-fed, well-groomed and with healthy levels, but experiences tend to differ from cat to cat. Whatever hidden litter box you decide to go with, it will be important to consider your cat’s behavior, form and size.

Getting a Pet Memorial

If you are like most people, then you definitely are going to need to spend at least a little bit of time thinking about what you are going to do when your animal dies. The simple fact of the matter is that animals die all the time, and I think that if you are interested in making sure that their memory is forever remembered, then you need to get a pet memorial. A pet memorial is surprisingly cheap, and I definitely think that if you wish to show the world that your pet is important to you, then you definitely need to do that. Do not be ashamed, there are plenty of people who believe that an animal is many times more important than a person in a number of different situations. Do not be afraid, this is definitely the best thing you can do for both your animal and yourself. Pet memorials are great, and I think that you should get a pet memorial today!

Experimenting with Raw Dog Food

Did you know that raw dog food is the food of choice for your furry buddy? You might think its gross and barbaric but given the choice, you dog will happily help himself on raw food. My friend, who is also a dog owner, did not believe so. We made a simple experiment. He came up with the best canned dog food money can buy. I, on the other hand, brought with me juicy beef steak slices. The two food types were put at least twenty feet apart. He would attempt to feed his dog the canned food and I would feed my dog the raw food. We wanted to see if any of the dogs will be content with whatever they were feeding on. Within a few seconds, my friend’s dog turned his back on the kibble and raced to the raw food. He literally stole one of steak slices my dog was feeding on and quickly sped off the crime scene. It was now clear. Dogs eat canned food because they have no choice. If given the choice, the would happily feast on raw food without thinking twice.

Puppies and Puppy Expense

Having a puppy can be such a fun experience. If you are thinking that puppies might be right for you then you should consider that they can be expensive. If you are not sure that you can afford one then you should go over your household budget and see if there is room for the expense of a puppy or a dog. Don’t just think about buying the puppy think about the long term expense. Dogs can get sick just like people so if you are going to have a dog then you should consider getting pet insurance. It is very low cost but if you ever need to use it you will find that it is so affordable. It costs pennies a day and a minor operation for your pet could cost over a thousand dollars so get insurance just like you would for yourself or for your kids so that you do not have to go broke because of a accident or illness.

Pet Dental Insurance

If a pet has been living with you for years, you will feel a close attachment to it and you always try to provide it with the best conditions within your ability. You buy it food, shelter, toy and even a pet insurance. But that seems not enough, especially if your pet is a dog. Why do I say that? Because you fail to protect an essential part of your pet – its teeth.

People normally think pet insurance is included in their pet’s medical plan. This is true only for sometimes. Therefore, I suggest that you buy a separate dental insurance for your pet.

Of course the dental insurance is not needed for every dog. It is advisable that you consult a vet and have him list some common diseases from which your pet often suffers. One more thing you should pay attention is mouth is the place where brings the most diseases for your pet. Protecting its mouth and teeth is a great way to prevent those diseases.

So how can you do this? You just need to purchase a pet dental insurance. As you know, prevention is always better than cure. You can not spend your precious time on cleaning your pet’s teeth so an insurance plan which covers regular dental care and dental work is the most wonderful option for you. Having your pet’s teeth taken care of will help your beloved animal avoid some dangerous disease including heart attack.

And what type of plan should you purchase? Before making up your mind, you will need the advice from your vet. He will examine your pet like checking its age, its health condition and then tell you which level your pet’s health condition is in. With his useful information, you can choose a affordable pet insurance which both includes enough coverage for your pet and alsosuits your budget. When you look for a plan to buy, make sure that plan covers regular checkups, even when you intend to brush your pet’s teeth yourself.

Another thing you need to notice is the vet list. You should read the list and the policy carefully. Some insurance providers do not allow you to choose more than one vets to take care of your pet. Therefore, it is advisable that you choose a plan which gives you access to any of the vets in the list you like.

Now it’s time for you to decide. Especially if your dog is big, or it belongs to a rare breed, purchasing a banfield pet insurance for it is necessary. If you want to give your beloved animal a safe and happy life, do not wait any seconds!

So now you can see that especially if you have a dog, this is really something you should be thinking about. Pet dental insurance is absolutely necessary.
